Joe Pride will send two winning prospects to the Newcastle Jockey Clubs Beaumont track meeting on Monday. The 3 year old Just A Tiff will contest the Tab Long May We Play Maiden Plate 1150m and his recent form suggests he will be hard to beat.
First up on December 29 he came from a long way back to be beaten three lengths in a strong Gosford Maiden. Last start on January 18 he again flashed home when runner up at Wyong a length behind the blueblood Chief Conductor. He has drawn well and Alysha Collett has the mount.
Sacred Stream is a Kiwi bred 3 year old filly which hasn’t been far away in a recent Warwick Farm trial and Alysha Collett again rides.
Local filly Don’t Doubt Katie looks a good bet in the Hellbent @ Yarraman Park Class 1 Handicap 1150m. The lightly raced 3 year old has had four starts for a win and two placings. She resumed from a spell at Taree on January 10 and she ran over the top of the leaders to win narrowly.
Last start on the Beaumont track the filly was run down late when third in a much better race. Don’t Doubt Katie has a soft drawn and Lee Magorrian has been booked to ride.
Brave Boy stepped up to a middle distance at Gosford last start and he produced a strong staying performance to win. Trained by Brad Widdup the colt went back in the field in the 1900 metres event and he finished fast in the straight. He is a progressive stayer and the 2100 metres won’t be a problem.
Newcastle trainer Sam Kavanagh fresh from a Rosehill win by his sprinter More Sundays on Saturday, will start the mare Dancing Dollar first up in the Coastline Pools Benchmark 58 Handicap 1150m. She comes off a nice Newcastle trial and has barrier one and Andrew Gibbons. The mare races well first up.
