RACE 1 – NEWCASTLERACECOURSE.COM.AU MAIDEN PLATE 2300M

Shadow of Mordor put the writing on the wall with a strong finishing second over 1850 on this track on February 3. From his soft draw he should box seat.

Everly Girl hit the line when runner up over 2400 at Kembla last start and she will be hard to beat.

Annie Saturday wasn’t far away when placed at Newcastle a week ago.

SELECTIONS

4 Shadow of Mordor

5 Everly Girl

1 Annie Saturday

RACE 2 – NEWCASTLE NEWMARKET FRIDAY MARCH 9 CLASS 1 900M

Two very fast short course sprinters clash here. Second Island blitzed a speedy filed over 1000 metres at Wyong on January 21 winning by 4.3 lengths. The filly has good gate speed and has drawn a nice barrier.

Cheers Joyce also has sped to burn and she led from soon after the start to win by a more than three lengths over this trip on this track eight days ago.

Go Joyce Go a stablemate of Second Island won his only start over 900 at Queanbeyan in October and she won a recent barrier trial.

SELECTIONS

5 Second Island

1 Cheers Joyce

3 Go Joyce Go

RACE 3 – JENNINGS PRINT BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1200M

Tawfiq Boy was held up at a critical stage when beaten a half head at Wyong first up recently. He has won second up, has a good gate and one of Sydney’s best apprentices  John Van Overmeire will claim 2 kilograms.

Sojournist will appreciate the extra trip after a fast finishing placing over 1000 at Wyong two weeks back.

Missybeel was successful at Wyong in October

SELECTIONS

1 Tawfig Boy

7 Sojournist

6 Misssybeel

RACE 4 – XXXX GOLD 2 YO MAIDEN HANDICAP 1300M

Outrageous will be an odds-on favourite and he is a potential Group 1 sprinter. The colt was a good thing, beaten when he went down by a head in a quality 1100 metre two-year-old event at Rosehill two weeks ago. He was slow out, second last during the run and he was held up before unleashing a whirlbound finish. Outrageous will appreciate the longer trip and the spacious track.

Panzerfaust is on debut after a good trial win and Tin Hat trialled okay.

SELECTIONS

1 Outrageous

6 Panzerfaust

5 Tin Hat

RACE 5 – IGA LIQUOR CLASS 2 1850M

Nathula was very impressive winning over 1500 metres at Kembla last start and the 1850 should not be a problem. He gave the leader 10 lengths at the 1000 before storming home to win by 1 ¼ lengths at Kembla.

Resort won by a big space at Orange late start and despite a class rise he has to be considered.

Sea Sharp can improve here particularly if he doesn’t lead.

SELECTIONS

1 Nathula

3 Resort

2 Sea Sharp

RACE 6 – SHARP ELECTRONICS GROUP MAIDEN 900M

Invincible Gangsta has been disappointing in two starts since an eye catching second on debut at Warwick farm in September. However, this is a winnable race for him and he has the coveted rails barrier. Invincible Gangsta ran on well in a hot Warwick Farm trial recently.

Rebel Cry was never off the bridle in a recent trail and he will run well on debut.

Meraki Miss resumes and trialled okay.

SELECTIONS

2 Invincible Gangsta

7 Rebel Cry

9 Meraki Miss

RACE 7 – YARRAMAN PARK PROVINCIAL CUP 1500M

No Effort Needed’s run on this track eight days ago was an eye catcher. He was taken back to last from his wide barrier and he was three wide form the 900. No Effort Needed was a fast finishing second beaten a length. The rails barrier is a positive.

Stablemate Zigamore won well two starts back at Taree and has a chance.

Front runner Fratellino comes in well at the weights and could prove hard to run down.

SELECTIONS

7 No Effort Needed

5 Zigamore

3 Fratellino

RACE 8 – TYRRELL’S WINES MAIDEN 1200M

Southern Lad resumes here on the back of an easy recent Randwick trial win. He was restrained back to last in the trial before sprinting quickly in the straight.

Chosen Heir was never let go when he closed late in a recent Gosford trial and he must be considered.

Durif disappointed here last start but he is much better than that.

SELECTIONS

5 Southern Lad

7 Chosen Heir

4 Durif
