Newcastle Newmarket Preview - Friday 9 March

08.03.18

Race 1 - PRESTIGE WEDDING & EVENT HIRE MAIDEN PLATE (1200 METRES)

Livia’s Story debuted at Gosford recently after two impressive trial wins. She found the 1000 metres on the tighter track too short but the filly ran on strong to finish third. The 1200 metres on the big track with Bowman aboard ticks all boxes.

Duvessa resumes for a new trainer and she has talent.

King Hewitt has trialled well for his debut.

Selections
7 Livia’s Story

6 Duvessa

1 King Hewitt

Race 2 - PEOPLEFUSION 3YO & UP MAIDEN HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

The Promise was runner up to a smart one first up at Goulburn recently. The extra trip is ideal and another good ride for Bowman.

Sporty was never on the track first up here and he can improve sharply over the1400.

Red Currant wasn’t far behind The Promise at Goulburn.

Selections

6 The Promise

8 Sporty

1 Red Currant

Race 3 - TJS SERVICES MAIDEN PLATE (1600 METRES)

Kathmandu has had three starts for three placings at Hawkesbury and Kembla. This is a drop in class for the four-year-old and McEvoy sticks.

Delos is a front runner resuming on the back of three trials. He was runner up at Canterbury & Wyong last prep.

Saint Katarina was a little disappointing recently at Wyong but can do better.
Selections

1 Kathmandu

3 Delos

8 Saint Katarina

Race 4 - ADVANCED PEST CONTROL CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE (2300 METRES)

Irish import Rex Bell is having his third Australian start and he will be hard to beat.

A month ago, he came from last to get within three quarters of a length of the form Chilli Beauty over 2000 at Kembla.

Momentum To Win was strong when a winner over 2100 at Gosford last start and the trip won’t be a concern.

Terwilliker was placed at Rosehill last start and he has a chance.

Selections

4 Rex Bell

6 Momentum To Win

7 Terwilliker

Race 5 - KAM-COOL REFRIGERATION BEAUMONT HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

On The Take is good value with only 54 on her back. She made up ground when beaten by four lengths in the Group 3 Widden on Debut and she wasn’t far away at Wyong last start. The big track is in her favour.

Osorno has sound Saturday metropolitan form and he is a big player here.

Laburnum won well on debut at Wyong but this is tougher.

Selections

11 On The Take

1 Osorno

2 Laburnum

Race 6 - SUEZ NEWCASTLE NEWMARKET HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

Lanciato faces his stiffest test to date but his recent form is outstanding. He has won four of his past six starts all on Good 3 tracks. He beat Group 1 horses in the Carrington last start and he only had 54 on his back.

Mister Sea Wolf has been narrowly beaten in Group 2 and 3 races in his two Australian starts in December. He has a great first up record.

Royal Tudor has had no luck recently and he has a chance with the light weight.

Selections

6 Lanciato

5 Mister Sea Wolf

9 Royal Tudor

Race 7 - GUARDIAN SAFETY SOLUTIONS PROVINCIAL POSTHASTE - BM 80 HCP (900 METRES)

Niccobelle is very fast and he is a winner on this track. He will jump and run over the short course. He is a winner first up and the wide barrier is okay with the long run to the turn.

Latin Boy won four ‘on the trot’ last prep and he is a short course specialist.

Trust Me is another which jumps and runs and he won a recent trial.

Selections

6 Niccobelle

2 Latin Boy

10 Trust Me

Race 8 - H L MULLANE BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

Sweet Deal is a classy filly resuming. She was only beaten three lengths in the Reginald Allen in October before going for a spell. She has had two trials and is perfectly drawn.

Time Out Of Mind has been close up in recent Metropolitan starts and should run well.

Bright Idea is talented and could run well first up.

Selections

11 Sweet Deal

6 Time Out Of Mind

5 Bright Idea
