Cessnock Preview - Friday 13 October


Race 1 – Cessnock Cup Friday 24/11 Maiden (1150m)

Rubel crashed into the running rail when leading in the straight at Cessnock last start, should atone here. The filly has only raced twice and she led when placed on debut at Tuncurry in early September. Rubel trialled satisfactory before stewards since her last start.

Twice As Sweet was placed in a quality Newcastle Maiden field in mid-September and he has trialled well since.

Amare is first up but was placed at Wyong last prep.

Race 2 – Iron Jack Lager Maiden (1150m)

Tale Of Eights first up fifth in a strong Newcastle Maiden field last start will make him very competitive in this race. He was placed at Gosford two starts back in May and he has a nice barrier.

Never Tardy went okay in a hot field at Muswellbrook first up and he could fill a place.

African Guy has been trialling okay.

Race 3 – The Advertiser Class 3 (900m)

Table Two has won three races over this trip and his second up run indicates that he is close to another win. He was only beaten a length in the Newcastle Hurricane last start and he is pretty quick.

The Wasp is first up but raced well in much better company last prep.

Azzie’s Ready is a speedster in top form and he has led in his past five starts in short course events.

Race 4 – IGA Liquor Maiden (1350m)

Alvin Purple was very good on debut on this track three weeks ago. He came from worse than midfield to finish second a length and a half from the winner. The extra 200 metre trip will suit and he has drawn nicely.

Greater Good pulled up badly when last at Tamworth last start but she has won a Newcastle barrier trial since. She is a big player here.

Kulnura is on debut after a couple of trial placings and he is in a good stable.

Race 5 – Cessnock Vintage Motor Inn Benchmark 55 (1570m)

Prince Roo is in career best form and he will be hard to run down. He led all the way to win here two starts back then he was run down late at Muswellbrook.

Triple Hero was nosed out by Prince Roo last start and he has a good chance.

Mosaytion has good country form.

Race 6 - Wine Country Motor Inn Benchmark 60 Handicap (1150m)

Prince Dylan led all the way for an easy Hawkesbury win two weeks back. He was placed in two Central Coast provincial races during the winter.

Former Victorian Niccorama looked good in winning her first New South Wales start on this track last meeting.

Nosey is a leader chasing a hat trick after wins at Muswellbrook and Taree recently.

Race 7 – Cessnock Leagues Club (Jungle Juice Cup 1350m)

Annandale Lass is in great form and she has a nice weight. The mare was a close second in last weeks Denman Cup at Muswellbrook and three starts back she won the Muswellbrook Tiara.

Kanguru wasn’t far off at Warwick Farm last start and he was a close third in the Newcastle Provincial Cup two starts back.

Aomen has a big weight and a horror draw but he is the class runner.

Race 8 – East Cessnock Bowling Club Class 1 (1150m)

Sojournist provincial form is good enough for this race. She has been less than a length from the winner in her past three provincial starts.

Excelamour has a good record from limited starts and she goes well fresh.

Son D’Amour was narrowly beaten at Cessnock last start and he should run well.
