Following consideration by Racing NSW Stewards after an inspection of the track at Cessnock Racecourse on Thursday (16th Nov) morning, we wish to advise that due to significant concerns regarding the lack of recent rainfall on the track and the depleted on-course water storage which has eliminated irrigation opportunities, the Hungerford Hill Cessnock Cup and inaugural Showcase meeting scheduled for next Wednesday 21 November 2018 will be transferred to Newcastle Racecourse.
The deleterious impact of ongoing drought conditions at Cessnock Racecourse is unprecedented, but thankfully the meeting will go ahead given the availability and excellent condition of the track at Newcastle Racecourse – with some minor alterations to race distances being determined.
