Newcastle Preview – Saturday 9 March

    RACE 1 – NEWCASTLE MBA APPRENTICESHIP SCHEMES MAIDEN 1300M

    Chauvinist went well enough first up to win this open race. He was beaten less then four lengths in a much stronger race on this track three weeks ago. Much fitter this time with the advantage of the rails barrier, Chauvinist is the one to beat.

    Eskimo Commander is the likely leader and he has a chance while Don’t Judge Me has solid form.

    RACE 2 – MORRISSEY LAW F&M MAIDEN HANDICAP 1300M

    Joyous Times missed the start when a close third at Gosford last start. The mare is third up and she has been placed in three of five.

    Ivira was close up when fourth at Canterbury last start and the claim brings her in well.

    Attentes is on debut and has drawn well.

    RACE 3 – NORTH CONSTRUCTION & BUILDING CLASS 1 900M

    Trumbull is first up after an easy trial win on the Beaumont track recently. The lightly raced three-year-old won first up last prep and he is well placed here.

    Hibiscus Lady led all the way to win at Gosford last start and My Certain is fitter this time.

    RACE 4 – BUILDCERT CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1600M

    Great Danger is knocking on the door after two recent placings at Canterbury and Taree. He was nailed late at Canterbury and he will race on the speed from the good barrier.

    Matakanui was impressive in an easy Gosford win lasts start, and he went okay first up.

    Transact is a stayer which could sprint well first up.

    RACE 5 – MBA INSURANCE MAIDEN 1850M

    King of Seas is a promising stayer which put the writing on the wall with a strong finishing second on this track last start. He was close up in his only other two starts over shorter trips at Canterbury and Warwick Farm and he was held up at a vital stage on this track last start.

    Sytus is always there about and should run well while Steel The Deel is racing well.

    RACE 6 – SB GLASS & GLAZING NEWCASTLE NOBBYS BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1850M

    Seababe bolted in at Canterbury lasts start and she was narrowly beaten on this track two starts back. She has finished close up in her past five starts and she has a 1.5-kilogram claim in this race.

    Clevaniccs’ recent city form is hard to fault.

    Allzin races well on this track.

    RACE 7 – POLYTRACK PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS QUALIFIER 1400M

    Archedemus is flying with four wins on the trot. He toyed with a classy Saturday field at Rosehill two weeks ago and he was an easy Warwick Farm winner two starts back. He is a front runner with four wins and a second from five starts.

    Fuchu has a good record on this track and he has won his past three starts.

    Turnberry has two wins and three placings from his past five starts all on city tracks.

    RACE 8 – JPM PLASTERING BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP 1400M

    Think Free is a quality filly with a good record but this is the best field she has met. She easily beat subsequent Mudgee Country Qualifier winner Soul Secrets at Scone last start. She has drawn well and will relish racing on her home track.

    Oakfield Twilight has been runner up in past three starts and he is a front runner.

    Hildalgo is smart and will give a good sight.
