Gary Harley – Preview – 22.06.24

Race 1 – Fay & Kalan’s Memorial Benchmark 64 Handicap 2370m

A very competitive staying race with many chances. Montgomery is in good form with wins at Wyong and Nowra in his past four starts. All his recent starts have been on heavy tracks including his runner up performance at Newcastle two starts back on May 25.

Don Stefano is racing well and will benefit from the 3kg claim allowance while Oakfield Hawk has won his last two on country tracks.

Selections:        6- Montgomery            1- Don Stefano             7- Oakfield Hawk

Race 2 – Independent Mobility & Rehab Maiden Plate 1900m

So Newchee Thinks will appreciate the longer trip after a strong finishing second behind stablemate Tigon Princess at Wyong last start on a heavy track. She has no speed, but the long straight is a positive.

Waverley has raced well in better company and will be hard to beat while Samphire Green is fitter third up.

Selections:       10- So Newchee Thinks            5- Waverley                  3- Samphire Green

Flying Argyle is a fast colt which has been runner up in his only two starts, both at Newcastle. He is very well weighted after Braith Nock’s 3kg allowance. Both his starts have been on heavy tracks, and he has the speed to overcome the wide barrier.

Tasoraay is on debut after an impressive trial and has speed while Super Nui is also on debut after a nice trial.

Selections:       2- Flying Argyle            3- Tasoraay                 10- Super Nui

Race 4 – Seed People Consulting Class 1 Handicap 900m

North Coast speedster Cool Storm heads south for her second race start after creating a huge impression in a 4.26 length Coffs Harbour 810 metre Maiden win in December. The filly was an easy winner of a Doomben trial earlier this month on a soft track.

Global Empire was just beaten at Warwick Farm in December, and he will be fitter for his first up Warwick Farm run and recent trial.

Russian Snitzel is also very quick and won a Goulburn maiden first up.

Selections:                   5- Cool Storm 1- Global Empire         3- Russian Snitzel

Race 5 – Griffiths Computerised Engineering Midway Maiden Handicap 1200m

Classic Poetry is good value in an open race. The filly was formerly trained in Victoria but has performed well in two runs for Nathan Doyle. She ran into second place at Gosford on May 16 and raced three wide when again running on into fourth place at Scone last start.

Hell’s Itch wasn’t extended in a recent trial, and he had solid form last preparation.

Magic Leprechaun won a recent Randwick trial.

Selections:       9- Classic Poetry           2- Hell’s Itch                 3- Magic Leprechaun

Race 6 – CEG Sales & Service Provincial Class 1 Handicap 1400m

Imposant put the writing on the wall with a close second on a Heavy 10 at Newcastle on June 1. The filly had good form last preparation with an easy win at a provincial meeting on the Beaumont track in December then a close second at Wyong.

Stablemate Rum Diary has a win and five placings from six starts and is an on-speed gelding. Rapt is well weighted after the claim.

Selections:       5- Imposant                 3- Rum Diary                7- Rapt

Race 7 – Hunter Street Chambers Super Maiden Plate 1400m

Chris Waller has the two favorites in this race and the pair stand out.

Fakhra resumes after a spell and had very good form before a spell. The Irish mare finished 2 lengths behind subsequent Group 2 winner Wymark in a 1600m Super Maiden on this track in February. She trialled nicely at Rosehill recently.

Pink Shalala won two recent Rosehill trials while Red Duster was placed first up.

Selections:       7- Fakhara       12- Pink Shalala           8- Red Duster

Race 8 – Lucy & Lenny CF Warriors Conditional Benchmark 68 Handicap 1600m

Scholl Deep bolted in on a heavy track last start on this track and Dreamdeel races well here.

Selections:       7- Star Impact 10- Scholl Deep           2- Dreamdeel
