Gary Harley – Preview – 20.09.24

Race 1- Klosters 90 years Class 1 & Maiden Plate 1850m

Lady Gold is knocking on the door after two close seconds at Wyong recently. She was run down late on August 18 and last start on September 1 the mare blundered at the start and after trailing the leader went down by half a length. She has drawn nicely and the top apprentice claims 3 kilograms.

Former Kiwi City Gold Ready went okay in his first Australian start on this track on August 29 and Blazing Sword has been runner up in his past two starts.

Selections:      6- Lady Gold                   1- City Gold Ready      11- Blazing Sword

Race 2 – New Era Technology Hurricane Handicap 900m

Outishka has a great record over this trip with five wins and two placings from eight starts. She has won two from four starts on this track and she is very quick. The stable apprentice claims 3 kilograms and he has ridden her in most of her starts.

Smart And Dapper resumes and is a Rosehill and Newcastle winner while Fumiko has good Queensland form.

Selections:      2- Outishika                    6- Smart And Dapper                7- Fumiko

Race 3 – Gateshead Traffic Solutions Maiden Handicap 1400m

Extreme Diva is the class runner but has been well beaten in her two starts this preparation. The Autumn she was placed in Group 2-year-old races. The filly finished down the track behind Storm Boy second up recently, but this is a huge drop in class. Tommy Berry has the mount from a positive barrier.

Wexford Miss was runner up here two starts back and has the rails barrier while Alice Mae is racing well.

Selections:      1- Extreme Diva            6- Wexford Miss            5- Alice Mae

Race 4- Bass Floor Newcastle Maiden Handicap 1400m

Firm Agreement was narrowly beaten on debut on this track on September 3 after racing outside the leader. He has speed to overcome a wide barrier and has the top Jockey Jason Collett in the saddle, had won a Randwick trial prior to his debut run Indigo Star with McDonald in the saddle is a threat as he wasn’t far away on debut at Canterberry while Rolling Magic was runner here first up.

Selections: 3- Firm Agreement           9- Indigo Star                 4- Rolling Magic

Race 5- Reward Hospitality Tibbie Stakes 1400m

Roots is the class runner and McDonald has the mount. She bolted in with the Rosehill Group 2 Hot Danish last year and was a close third in the Star Kingdom in March. In her only run this prep she was beaten 3 lengths in the Group 1 Tatts Tiara at Eagle Farm. The mare cantered around at the tail of the field in a recent Randwick trial, and she will appreciate the long straight.

Hell Hath No Fury s run in the Wyong Mona Lisa was an eye catcher while Terra Mater won the Mona Lisa.

Selections:      1- Roots             2- Hell Hath No Fury                 5- Terra Mater

Race 6 – Sharp Office Newcastle Gold Cup 2300m

Redstone Well won the recent Randwick Tatts Cup by 3.93 lengths in a dominate all the way win. That was his first run this prep on a good 4 track and similar track conditions are expected on Friday.

Etna Ross failed in the Wyong Cup but expect a form reversal on the bigger track.

Touristic has been runner up in his past three starts and is a definite treat.

Selections:      3- Redstone Well         9- Etna Rosso                4- Touristic

Race 7 – Australian Bloodstock Cameron Handicap 1500m

Nugget is good value at around double figures, and he deserves a change of luck. He was beaten less than a length in the Group 1 Doncaster in April, then was badly held up in the Scone Cup and likewise in the recent Randwick Tranway. He does get back, but the long straight is a plus and local boy Dylan Gibbons has the mount.

Victorian Here To Shock is talented and was narrowly beaten in a strong race at Caulfield last start.

Berkshire Shadow had no luck first up.

Selections:      2- Nugget          1- Here To Shock          3- Berkshire Shadow

Race 8- New Zealand Bloodstock Benchmark 64 Handicap 1500m

Mondo has won two from three at Newcastle, but he has to overcome a wide barrier. The 3-kilogram claim for Braith Nock is gold and there were excuses in his last start at Hawkesbury when beaten half a length after racing three wide  with no cover.

Cormack T won two on the trot before a spell and Irish Kisses has a chance.

Selections:      3- Mondo          4- Cormac T                    10- Irish Kisses
