Gary Harley – Preview – 03.09.24

Race 1 – NZB November Ready To Run Sale Class 1 & Maiden Plate 1900m

Kenmare Bay is a lightly raced 3 year old which stepped up to the 1600 metre trip at Kembla last start and won impressively. He is bred to stay and two starts back was placed in a strong Newcastle 1400 metre Maiden. Sam Clipperton rides from the rails barrier.

Cosmic Lad is down in class and is ready to improve and Rockbarton Icon is racing well.

Selections:        3 – Kenmare Bay          1 – Cosmic Lad            2 – Rockbarton Icon

Race 2 – TAB APP Maiden Handicap 1350m

Interjection resumes from a spell after a nice Randwick trial on August 19. In his first prep in the autumn the 3 year old had three starts for two placings at Wyong and Kembla and Tommy Berry has the mount.

Firm Agreement is on debut after a good Randwick trial win while Magic Shadow has a chance if he gains a start.

Selections:        1 – Interjection             4 – Firm Agreement      13 – Magic Shadow

Race 3 – Sharp Office Provincial Class 1 Handicap 1350m

Hawkesbury trainer Brad Widdup trains the two favourites in this race and the pair have the best form. Colours Of Autumn was nailed late after coming from well back at Kembla first up on August 17 and she was placed at Newcastle before a spell.

Canny Queen won well on debut at Wyong before being outclassed at Rosehill.

Atomic Forty Seven is third up after a Muswellbrook placing last start.

Selections:        1 – Colours Of Autumn            3 – Canny Queen        6 – Atomic Forty Seven

Race 4 – Hungerford Hill Wines 4YO&UP E&G Maiden Plate 1250m

Magic Shadow has been placed in three of seven starts, one on this track first up in June. He was narrowly beaten on the Kensington track in July and he finished fourth in a much stronger field than this at Newcastle two starts back on August 3. Dylan Gibbons has the mount for Ciaron Maher.

Warilla Gorilla wasn’t far away at Hawkesbury first up while Ferghana was twice placed last prep.

Selections:        6 – Magic Shadow       11 – Warilla Gorilla     4 – Ferghana

Race 5 – Davali Thoroughbreds 4YO&UP Mares Maiden Plate 1250m

Lady Ichikawa has had no luck this campaign and deserves a win with new rider Chad Schofield in the saddle. She was held up in the straight last start at Newcastle when placed and two starts back at Newcastle she came from near last to finish a close third. The mare has come up with the rails barrier.

Alice Mae’s fast finishing second at Taree first up on August 16 was an eye catcher.

Emilia Jane is a former Kiwi having her second Australian start.

Selections:        6 – Lady Ichikawa        1 – Alice Mae               5 – Emilia Jane

Race 6 – NJC Supports Equimillion 2024 Midway 3YO Maiden Plate 1200m

Indecisive was very unlucky first up at Warwick Farm when beaten 1.76 lengths on August 21. He was a clear last during the race and when making good ground in the straight he was badly checked. He simply ran out of room and went to the line unextended.

Harlem Queen’s both starts have been full of merit and she won a recent Scone trial.

Marais has been placed in all four starts.

Selections:        1 – Indecisive               6 – Harlem Queen       2 – Marais

Race 7 – Dailey Family Funerals Benchmark 64 Handicap 1200m

Draco’s Fire resumes from a spell and is good value in early markets. He is the first emergency and if he secures a start Kerrin McEvoy will ride him. In his only start Draco’s Fire had five starts for a win and three placings. He has had two recent Rosehill trials and in the last one on August 20 was impressive.

One Beat No Beat resumes after a close second at Rosehill on June 1.

King’s Duty can run well if he gains a start.

Selections:        11 – Draco’s Fire         3 – One Beat No Beat              13 – King’s Duty
