Cessnock Racecourse proudly hosts the annual ANZAC Day races on Wednesday 25 April. Last years unveilling of Bill the Bastard Memorial statue was a huge success with proceeds going to Soldier On. This year there will be two-up, food vendors, jumping castle, face painter, live music by Alias and a drink for all Service men & women. Not to mention a special Lighthorse re-enactment and ceremony.
Ceremony will commence at 12.30pm, with the first race to jump at 1.10pm and the final race to jump at 4.10pm. Don't miss the action and excitement of the 2700 metre Jericho Cup race.
This year all proceeds will be proudly presented to the Hunter Defence Support Network which is a community support and advocacy group focused on improving the lifestyle of Australian Defence Force (ADF) members and their families whilst posted to the Hunter Region. HDSN works in partnership with the ADF and the Hunter Community to raise support for base programs and activities. "We educate the community and advocate for base interests. Each year, HDSN works with Defence leadership to determine specific ways to support the men and women of ADF who serve our country."
Buy one get one free tickets available for $10 right up until the day before or $10 on the day at the gate. Gates will open at 12.00pm. Picnic lunches are welcome to be brought in and we encourage you to bring your children.
