Cessnock Preview – Friday 13 October Jungle Juice

    Race 1- Sharp Electronics Group Maiden Plate 1150m

    Akeed drops in class here and he has a nice barrier. He is a front runner and was placed in his first two starts at Newcastle before a last start failure at Wyong. He should lead and will be hard to run down.

    Ultimate Power has been placed in his only two starts on country tracks.

    Destiny’s Choice races well on this track.

    Selections:

    7- Akeed

    12- Ultimate Power

    3- Destiny’s Choice

    Race 2- Hungerford Hill Wines Benchmark 58 1150m

    Oxford Angel resumes here on the back of a last to first trial win at Wyong. She is a talented mare which was unlucky in her first two starts before an easy win at Wyong in May. She has a tricky draw, but the claim enhances her prospects.

    I Can Hear Music likes a wet track and his last run was full of merit.

    Silent Dream has a good record on the track.

    Selections;

    1- Oxford Angel

    4- I Can Hear Music

    5- Silent Dream

    Race 3- The Advertiser Maiden Handicap 1350m

    This is an even field and Kaffka gets her chance to break through. Last prep she was placed at Kembla and she won a Warwick Farm trial in August before an unplaced first up run at Hawkesbury.

    Wanchai was placed here in her only start on the track in June and she was placed at Taree two starts back.

    Timion hasn’t been far away in recent starts.

    Selections;

    10- Kaffka

    14- Wanchai

    5- Timion

    Race 4- Peden’s Hotel F & M Maiden Plate 1150m

    Lucky Siren has been placed in her only two starts in the Hunter Valley and this is her race. The filly has good gate speed to overcome the barrier and the short straight will be to her liking.

    Adele’s Joy was placed first up at Newcastle and she has raced well here.

    Queens has trialled well.

    Selections;

    8- Lucky Siren

    1- Adele’s Joy

    11- Queens

    Race 5- Greg Burgoyne Memorial Class 1 Handicap 1150m

    Real Classic has caught the eye in both starts since coming from Queensland. He has barrier one and Mitchell Bell. Expect him to sit off the speed and finish strong late. He had no luck in his two starts at Scone and Muswellbrook.

    Miss Redoble resumes and is talented. She has the benefit of a recent trial.

    Venture Capital is very fast, but the last bit is a worry.

    Selections;

    2- Real Classic

    8- Miss Redoble

    3- Venture Capital

    Race 6- Wine Country Motor Inn Class 3 900m

    Rouge Runner is quick and was impressive in winning here last start. He has won a trial since by three lengths and will be hard to catch.

    Leogang resumes and he had good provincial form last prep.

    Ghibli led all the way at Muswellbrook last start and he has a chance.

    Selections;
    8- Rouge Runner

    1- Leogang

    6- Ghibli

    Race 7- Cessnock Leagues Club Jungle Juice Cup 1350m

    Sniponet is chasing a hat-trick after two strong wins at Tuncurry and Bowraville. He lumped 61 kilograms and overcame a wide run to win at Tuncurry two starts back. Last time out he bolted in with the Bowraville Cup.

    Marathon is in great form but needs luck from the barrier with the big weight.

    Nick On The Run flashed home when placed in the Denman Cup at Muswellbrook last start and he has a good chance.

    Selections;

    6- Sniponet

    1- Marathon

    5- Nick On The Run

    Race 8- East Cessnock Bowling Club Benchmark 58 1570m

    Time Raid is promising and he will race on the speed. After a four-length debut win at Tuncurry he was heavily backed when beaten a head at Newcastle. Time Raid has a positive barrier and looks the winner.

    Dynamic Dynasty and Lucciola Belle are the main threats.

    Selections;

    5- Time Raid

    3- Dynamic Dynasty

    8- Lucciola Belle
