Newcastle Jockey Club and Toohey’s Newcastle Rugby League announce partnership.
Newcastle Jockey Club is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Toohey’s Newcastle Rugby League which includes naming rights to their own race day on September 24th, 2022.
NJC Chief Executive Duane Dowell is thrilled to have the NJC partner with Newcastle Rugby League.
Both Newcastle Jockey Club and the Toohey’s Newcastle Rugby League have a rich history within Newcastle. Dowell expands “Both organisations have been a big part of the fabric of sport in Newcastle for a long time and it’s a great example of how working together can provide mutual benefits for both parties”
On their Saturday race day, Toohey’s Newcastle Rugby League will also be hosting their annual awards presentation in the Trackside Marquee to celebrate the achievements of team members. One such award will include the Newcastle Racecourse ‘Try of the Year’.
To further NRL’s mission ‘to grow the game’, the two businesses have teamed up to implement the Newcastle Racecourse ‘Try of the Week’. Fans vote for the Try of the Week for the chance to win a table of 6 on the Ascot Lawn and a hospitality voucher to the value of $200. Chairman of the Toohey’s Newcastle Rugby League, John Crooks explains “Engaging with our audience and fans weekly through our social media channels is a key part of our marketing strategy. Partnering with the Newcastle Racecourse allows us to rewards fans for interacting with our posts”.
NJC and NRL are also exploring having a sprint on the course proper between team players to determine the fastest player within the league.
Tickets for the Toohey’s Newcastle Rugby League Race Day will go on sale to the public at 10:00am on Friday 8th July.
